I've never tried cross stitch before, will it hurt?

Not unless you stand on your needle. Each kit includes comprehensive instructions for getting started so just take a deep breath and you will be fine. If you need personal tuition why not organise a Purple Thread Party?

How long does it take to make a kit?

That depends on you. Up to a week's worth of evenings is usual for a 5" x 7" design. As you become a more confident stitcher you'll find you get quicker. Please enjoy the experience of creating something fun- we find it's a relaxing past-time and rather addictive!

What do I do with it when it's finished?

The best thing to do is hand-wash it gently and leave to dry naturally. Once it's dry, iron on the reverse of the design. Then it's up to you; frame it and hang it to admire, give it as a gift, attach it to a cushion cover, stick it on the fridge… We frame our designs by placing a piece of card on the reverse and ironing over the edges until its flat and beautiful.

Do I really need an embroidery hoop?

Well, no, not in the same way as you need air and water (and tea). But we'd definitely recommend that you use one- it makes sure your work stays pretty whilst you're working and helps to prevent tangles (and then tantrums). The reason we haven't included them in the kit is that they're re-usable and hopefully you'll be inspired to continue stitching after you've completed your first kit.

Can I change the colours on the design?

Not keen on our colour choices? It may be possible to change one colour on a design but please ask to check beforehand.

How long do I have to wait to receive my kit?

Desperate to get started huh? We post orders first class with Royal Mail within 3 working days of receiving payment so hopefully you won't have to wait too long.

I'd quite like a bespoke piece, is that possible?

Why, yes. We are able to design one-off pieces for A6 cards, 5" x 7" or A4 size. Give us a call or drop us an email and we'll see what we can do for you. You can find all our details on the contact page or click here.
